a run on console stereos ??
William W Western wrote: I've sold or parted out about 6 of these consoles so far. As you know, the key to selling used stuff is to be ahead of the rest and mine people's sense of nostalgia. Before others realize the trend and flood the market. The consoles have certainly been gone long enough to evoke a sense of some bygone day. Also kitschy enough to fill that oddball need. They just take up so much living space which is a knock against them both in using up retail floor space and the small apartments of the youth market looking to find some offbeat item. BINGO- you hit the nail. The first guy through the Ebay fields reaps the greatest crop of sales, for any particular "new" antique/collectible item that has not yet been listed- providing it is described correctly and in the right category. The worst thing one can do, is mis-list it, as then someone who knows what it's really worth can buy it low with no bid competition- and resell it high in the correct category. |

These had heavy real wood cabinets.snip
Here is one goofy looking enough to possibly snag a buyer. It has turntable, radio, 8-track. Trouble is it weighs in at nut breaking, and consumes 18"x30"x60" of real estate (mostly empty space). All for fidelity not much different from a Fisher Price portable. Can be yours for $12.00 Canadian. http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m.../734205569.jpg |

Let's see....C$12 = about....US$7? Go for it, Noodles! Add to your (worthless) collection! |

Yup. With Solid State boldly emblazoned. And a vacuum tube unexplainably reposing in one of the record storage slots. |
