Default William S. Burroughs read the Weekly World News

In his December 20, 1996, journal entry published in Last Words, Naked
Lunch author William S. Burroughs writes:

"'I am Enraged'-(a column like Ed Anger's):
The vile bestial settlers and sheep people wiped out the marsupial
wolf."

In reference to this entry, Last Words editor, James Grauerholz writes,
"Burroughs often read the tabloid Weekly World News for amusement; 'Ed
Anger' is a News columnist specializing in the 'mad-as-hell/sound-off'
style."

So the next time someone catches you glimpsing at the latest rant from
the "pig bitin' mad" columnist or reading about the continuing
adventures of bat boy in the grocery store aisle, tell them you are in
good company. One of the most celebrated writers of the 20th century
also sought inspiration by reading the tabloid!
