No, we should start a petition threatening to boycott the series if they don't also include Ceres, Makemake, and Eris. :-) You'd probably have about as much with that as the person who tried to get pre-constitution presidents added to the presidential dollar series. BTW, I still think the Mint should make the planet coins sized relative to the size of the planets. As a full set in a nice case it would look pretty cool. |

Well, maybe not exactly in true proportion to one another. Excluding the Sun, there is about a 62x difference between Jupiter at 142,984 km (diameter) and Pluto at 2,274 km. So while a 62 mm coin is doable, 2 mm would be a bit small. hehe. Source for planet sizes: http://www.nineplanets.org/ According to which, Eris is slightly bigger than Pluto. So maybe it should get a coin. |
