Suggestions for book-collecting class

It was a great experience for me and the kids. They were learning
about the different genres of books and this fit right into their
classwork.

Information on handling ephemera found in, or associated with books. I
recently cataloged an obscure 1928 book of poems about the newspaper
industry. It was signed by the author, with an original handwritten
poem added. The book also contained a small poem card for a radio show
the author had, as well a similar postcard about the radio show.
Author's obituary was also doing the acid burn on the endpapers. These
items, sealed in plastic and reinserted, I think tremendousy enhanced
the value of the book. I think some other people would have thrown
these out. Old Bookplates can also be of good interest.

Would you mind posting (or if you think it breaks the rules, emailing me)
some details of that book? I'm interested in unusual books on newspapers
(though currently dismantling rather than selling a collection - so this
is mere curiosity, I'm afraid).
