Well, for some reason, Che got idolized, certainly here in the States.
There are many theories about his career. The one I like is that he quarreled with Fidel. Fidel couldn't have him shot, so he suggested that Che just go someplace dangerous for the good of the Party. I had five copies of the Che Diaries from the original US publication in some leftwing magazine or other... but it has been so long that I would have to search every box I have not opened in a decade... Somehow, Che no longer seems romantic or idealistic, just stupid and mean. This marketing ploy by Casto might even bring in more US Dollars that his "Pirates" coins. Michael "Cuba libre!" |
