Another ravishing beauty from that master printer from Guernsey.
(who, by the way, used to sell straw hats, and once went bankrupt and was sent to prison)

The Prince of Wales's Hospital Fund
cancelled July 28th 1897 at Finsbury Park (the rest is illegible to me)

Recess printing was carried out on three hand-operated machines

Beautiful work!

May I suggest that the signature is of the subscriber, or person
selling
the label to the subscriber (receipt?) and is not a royal signature?

Edward (later Edward 7) was Prince of Wales at the time.

Hi Blair,
for an in-depth dissertation on the label,
I would direct you to

A little bit of plagiarism.

This time "Our Boy's League" pinched the Prince's design........
signed by the Sec -General this time

Our Boys League had a variety of labels.
http://www.ozrevenues.com/Articles/our-boys.htm

An opinion of "Our Boys" is expressed in the (Adelaide) Register,
25 September 1883, page 6b:

[The employers] expect them to keep honest
on small salaries, yet they never attempt to stop
the ever-growing vice - drink. The government,
also banks, I maintain, ought to have specially
employed a detective who would report any
offender who was found to be giving way to
riotous living... What is wanted is intellectual
amusements, debating societies, etc, and
down with hotel drinking and tobacco smoking.

http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/manning/ad...ig/boybrig.htm

THE CINDERELLA STAMP CLUB OF AUSTRALASIA journal,
Vol.23, No.1, February 2009. has two related articles

Our Boys League, by Anthony Presgrave.
Our Boys League Colonial Fund, by Dave Elsmore.

Very adroit Blair. Thank you very much.
I do not have that Vol/No of the Cinders club.
