As in, what might have been IF America had remained a UK colony and IF the UK had signed up for the euro in the first place. Let's face it, there's got ta be a buck or two in having trial US coins with queen lizzie on the obverse. No? :-) |

No? :-) There are a couple of restaurant/nightclubs in Chicago that will accept Euros, Pounds, Yen etc. They figure out the current exchange rate and give you the difference. They get a lot of business and convention travelers from overseas so it makes sense to do this. |

EU Regulation 2182/2004 is quite specific about what one can do and what is not OK. Several member states had similar regulations even before that EU law became effective, primarily due to the many "euro pattern" pieces that a British company (INA) started making and selling a few years ago. However, the EU and member state governments do not seem to really bother much. I mean, some of those pattern pieces closely resemble euro coins - but who would buy a set at ¤30 or more, partly much more, only to crack it and then try and spend the single pieces? g Here is a neat private page with lots of images of "pseudo-euros". Some are lousy designs, others are pretty :-) http://ret001qm.eresmas.net/eu-ingle.htm Christian |

Here comes "Frizio" (Fabrizio Annovi) to your rescue ;-) He has designed lots of fantasy pieces, just for fun. And one of them -- http://spazioinwind.libero.it/frizio...llar-euro2.gif (animated GIF showing the two sides) If that image does not load, go here http://spazioinwind.libero.it/frizio...ofantasy8.html and look at the middle piece in the second row. Hehe ... Christian |
