I have had this before, turned out to be a pig of a problem but
fortunately was a simple cure once you
understand how it works;

I would check that the magazine or motor isnt jammed, cam switches
etc. In our case, a piece of broken record had
fallen into the gears and stalled the magazine from turning. failing
this, make sure that the record arm is fully over the magazine, and
that the cam switches (leaf switches) are correctly adjusted, as the
magazine won't start until this is in home position.

These are very different to the 1970's machines, in that the platter
motor is switched by the "scan magnet" rather than
off the cam. There is also a second switch in the scan magnet that
powers the magazine (and transfer cycle etc).

Be warned if working on the scan magnet that 120/240v (depending on
country) mains for the turntable motor is present on the switch in the
scan magnet assembly and therefore an electric shock hazard.

(note that in solid state AMI jukes, prior to the R-88 or so the
magazine will rotate roughly one turn at power up - this is done by
the microprocessor in order to find the "home" position, any from R-84
onwards, the turntable motor is directly switched by the
microprocessor)

In ones after the R-88 through to the end of the record models, the
magazine will only rotate once the first selection is made. It may
rotate more than one turn as it finds home first then finds the
record.
