Perfin or Perfin Mites?
Is anyone able to offer an opinion on these holes please? The one in the middle kind of gives it away, but the other holes look so perfectly round, it made me wonder. http://cjoint.com/data/cApHmXzoxW.htm |

I think that either the middle hole was not produced by the same mechanism as the other ones, which all seem to be exactly the same (slightly oval and all of the same size), or else the punch did not completely cut through for the middle hole. Hi Roger,
well, on your advice, I'll retain it as a perfin for the time being. very unusual one, to say the least. | Rodney | | Not sure about the middle hole "giving it away". Hi
First a question. Is the stamp a New York State Stock Transfer? If so, it most likely is a partial of CM/&Co. I would have to check against a 100% size scan to determine which of three different CM/&Co patterns it is. The three differ in the spacing between the top line and the bottom line. I have many of that pattern group with missing holes, some with even fewer holes than the one shown. Possible causes are the office boy put too many sheets in the perforator at a time or he didn't punch hard enough. The Perfins Club (US) has an ongoing project to develop a catalog of US Revenue Perfins. G'day Arthur,
sadly no. The scan had offered the description at the top but you must have missed it. Straits_10c_kg5_purp~yell_File3581_.jpg It is a KG5 Straits Setlements 10c Purple / yellow At auctions one often reads "pin hole" and I thought it may be from silverfish, I am still not convinced it to be a perfin. Happy to convey Perfins and Cinderellas reaching high values locally, NSW "Consumptive Homes" went for $80 recently. And I have a stock of 1971 Aust/UK Mail emergency stamps. Rodney Could you please let me/us have more information about these, if it does not put you to any trouble. I probably knew about the problems at the time but over the years I have completely forgotten about what happened. Regards, Roger |

In public, please!
You've stirred a memory - there was something about this in rscd a while back, wasn't there? Or was that the movie stamps? Heck, my memory has more lapses than my computer's. Okee Dokee,
What you need Bob, is the free Program "Agent Ransack" which will find anything on your computer. (providing one can remember the file name as an aside, have you run across these before? http://cjoint.com/data/cCavJUzjBW.htm Cheers. | You've stirred a memory - there was something about this in rscd a while | back, wasn't there? These are large scans, so go have a cuppa.
after download, select "zoom actual size" to read. .. http://groups.msn.com/Stamps/shoebox...to&PhotoID=621 http://groups.msn.com/Stamps/shoebox...to&PhotoID=622 ...........and can you spot the similarity? http://groups.msn.com/Stamps/shoebox...to&PhotoID=623 This was the quote I received recently. We can supply the following 1971 Strike Mail stamps: - Australian currency block of 4 stamps MUH @ $3 per block (NB these issues exist with white or yellow gum). We can also supply without gum for just $1.50. Australian currency M/S - MUH @ A$2 or Used @ A$4. English currency block of 4 stamps MUH @ $3 per block (NB these issues exist with white or yellow gum). We can also supply without gum for just $1.50. English currency M/S - MUH @ A$4. We also have an example of this M/S with a fairly dramatic colour shift @ A$8. Since you're Australian, GST is 10% extra. P&H is $2.50 extra. We accept Bankcard, MasterCard, Visa, Amex, cheques (subject to clearance), money orders, cash (at sender's risk) & bank deposits (details upon request). HTH |
