Default question 1982 washington half comm

I'm going to list this commemorative and I'll be damned if I can
figure which location depicted on the reverse: is it Mt Vernon, NY or
Hope's Creek. VA, which is the national monument. This coin honors
the 250th birthday of Washington, so shouldn't it show his place of
birth? However, Mt Vernon is the home mostly associated with him.
I've checked a number of websites that sell it and they don't clarify
although one says it is Mt Vernon, which I don't think makes any
sense.

I've gotten to the point where I'm really curious. Thanks.

Cynthia

My 1988 Redbook says it's the eastern facade of Mt. Vernon.

The Mt. Vernon associated with Washington is in Virginia. The town of Mt.
Vernon in New York has nothing to do with Washington.

The US mint page states that it is Mt. Vernon

I kept running a search at the US Mint but I couldn't find squat. And
thanks for the VT/NY clarification. I'm from NY and I always thought
that's where Washington's Mt Vernon was/is.

I have tried to ignore this thread, but MY GAWD.

FWIW, your knowledge of the postal abbreviations is as faulty as your
grasp of American history.

VA = Virginia, and I am pretty certain VT = Vermont.

George Washington's adult home still exists and it is only a short
distance south of the District of Columbia. Not to confuse you - you
might think the District of Columbia is in South America - but that's
just maybe twenty miles or so south of the City of Washington D.C.

Sorry for the slur, but you need to find WIKIPEDIA and learn how to
use that.

Jeff Foxworthy might want to interview her for his television show.
