im here to learn all i can about stamp collecting from all you experts
instead of from a book or manual or such
Any advice for this beginner would be much appreciated, recently taken
an interest in my dad's stamp collection he left me

If you read the archives here and in www.stamporama.com you will
probably pick up 90% of everything you need to know about run of the
mill, and not so run of the mill stuff. Questions here will get you a
reply to most of the other 10%
