Appalachian Trail may go on Vt.'s 25-cent pieces
FROM:
http://www.fox44.net/Global/story.asp?S=10006034 Appalachian Trail may go on Vt.'s 25-cent pieces Associated Press - March 14, 2009 10:25 AM ET MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Gov. Jim Douglas has nominated Vermont's 150-mile stretch of Appalachian Trail for inclusion on a new set of Vermont quarters. Under the America's Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act of 2008, each state's governor must recommend a national site or park for the coins. The U.S. Treasury's secretary has final say. Alternate possibilities submitted by Douglas include Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park, in Woodstock, and the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge, in Franklin County. Next year, the U.S. Mint will issue new 25-cent pieces every 10 weeks. On the Net: U.S. Mint quarters program: http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/...gram/index.cfm ... |
