Who did this perfin belong to?
I have seen multi country perfins where a
company operated in several countries.

Thanks Mette,
I hadn't traced it at time of posting. (cool perfin though)

Blair,
I am going to be quite an old codger, (he imagines carpet slippers, pipe,
and earhorn)
by the time I have seen as much as you , if ever.
I am just a new sprog on the block.

Hi

Sorry to contradict you Mette but the logo as seen on the stamp
actually
is from the danish steam ship co. DFDS. Nevertheless it was a good
guess.

Regards Viktor

Thank you Viktor. I didn't know that DFDS perfins also appear on Swedish
stamps. Maybe Rodney could point us to the web where the Swedish perfin he
refers to, is shown. My question is now whether DFDS perfins appear also on
Norwegian stamps?

This may be it Mette, but just a guess.
They have shipping interests in Sweden as well,
however, if it had that status in the 1920's is another question.

The company is the Scandinavian branch of the Svitzer-Wijsmuller group,
founded in August 2001 by the merging of Svitzer (Denmark) and Wijsmuller
Bros
(Baarn, The Netherlands). The group is itself part of the A.P. Moller
(Maersk) group.
It operates today the most powerful tug fleet in the world.
Svitzer was founded in 1833 and owns today the towage and salvage companies
Roda Bolaget (Sweden) and Esvagt A/S (Denmark).
Wijsmuller was founded in 1906 as Wijsmuller Bureau.

Hi Rod,
OK, I found the image, and could also access the Lithuanian link as such,
but couldn't make much of it, at least not in the philatelic sense. It seems
to be a company with headquarters in Kaunas ...

Hi Mette,
I used Google, (Images), and used the search criteria
"Denmark Perfins"
Up came 29 images, including the Maltese Cross
I could not confirm the links authenticity as www.kalnieciai.lt
cannot be accessed (by me at least)

==============================================

Hello Mette and all.

Did you know that DFDS also issued its own stamps?

These were similar to the railway parcel stamps issued is a
number of countries (eg UK, Belgium, Denmark, etc..) but
were used for mail / parcels carried on ferry boats.

DFDS ferry boat parcel stamps :
#03 http://cjoint.com/data/gAp7PPjtb5.htm
#07 http://cjoint.com/data/gAqLsyVGkm.htm
#15 http://cjoint.com/data/gApJIK7V14.htm

A 1977 card franked with the safe DFDS perfin (different stamps).
http://cjoint.com/data/gAqOIlriN4.htm

At the 2004 Salon du Timbre, Danish collector Kurt Hansen won
a Silver medal for his exhibit entitled "The Shipping Company DFDS"

Denmark also had overprinted regular stamps for ferry boat
mail (overprint : Postfærge). An additional fee was charged
for this service and they are listed in the AFA catalogue.
