Rock-ola 1448 not always selecting
I have a 1448 at my Mom & Dad's home. It's always worked great, until
recently. The problem is, sometimes when you push a button/key to select a song, nothing happens. BUT, if you hit the "change program" button, which rotates the three-sided title strip drum/panel, hitting another button afterwards makes a selection and plays the correct record. My question is, why is this happening? Do I correct it by doing something to the contacts/micro switch on the "change program" button? Or is it in the individual keys/selector buttons? I know these are different than the typical contact points on, like say, a Seeburg mechanism stack of points. Do I solve this by spraying electrical cleaner on the bank of individual pushbuttons, and working them in and out 50 to 100 times each? Or is it in the change program button, which seems to remedy (temporarily) the problem? I'm really not sure what is going on here. Any Rock-ola gurus out there who have had this happen to their (similar) juke (Charlie?)? Thanks a load, Rob |

So many questions to ask. OK start with this take a number that does
not work for on title section. Rotte the drum, if that number works for a differenr title section, the pushbutton is OK. If it doesn't work for any section, probably in the push button. Is there a title section that no numbers work on? Problem in the title drum switches. If selection problem is totally random, no pattern, problem most likely in pinbank. Spray pushbuttons down with contact cleaner, spray into jones plugs with cleaner, it may help and it won't hurt. Thanks, Charlie...I knew you would know what to do. I have trouble
"troubleshooting". I really appreciate the insights. I'll try it this Friday and let you know how it goes. Let me know also if you have any insights into my earlier post on the questions I have regarding the Rock-ola 1426 (with regards to the micro-switch on the door closing and the "rumbling" sound when the turntable/mech is operating.). Thanks again, Rob ask. OK start with this take a number that does not work for on title section. Rotte the drum, if that number works for a differenr title section, the pushbutton is OK.
