Any idea on the value of this coin ....

Thanks Eric, I wanted the rcc value - and I'd go do a Heritage search
and take an average well before I'd use PCGS values - but, don't take
this the wrong way, I appreciate the reply.

The rcc value? Speaking only for myself, I'd value a coin I owned
according
to the highest price guide I could find, and a coin I didn't own by the
lowest price guide I could find. But if I must now extrapolate, I'd say
this approach is rather common.

By the way, I have long labored under the mistaken impression that the
prices on the PCGS website are for PCGS-graded coins only. That is not
the
case. As it is stated thereupon, the prices quoted are for
"properly-graded" coins.

Mr. Jaggers

So, Mr. Jaggers...was there a price you intended to present or .....

Actually, no. I don't have access to any price guides that you or anybody
else doesn't have access to. As soon as I might say "The Redbook lists it
at..." or "Greysheet is..." there would be folks who condemn those price
guides in favor of Coin Prices, Coin World Values, or what have you. As a
result you would have five or six different numbers. We don't know your
motivation in asking the original question, so it is presumptuous to say
that taking an average would be appropriate. My point was, and is, that it
is rather meaningless for me or anyone else to quote a price to you for a
coin we can't see, for a purpose we don't know.

Assuming that 1821 small date dime has at least "average" eye appeal, I
would expect it to bring a MINIMUM of $450 and as much as $500-$525.
Sometime this type is weakly struck within the date range, and in that
case I would deduct aot $50 from the above figures. If the coin has
"outstanding" eye appeal, add $50-$75.

Ira

Thank you sir!

Then I think Ira is about right, maybe just a tad high. The JR-8 and
JR-9 are nothing to excite variety collectors. A JR-10 would be a bit
above Ira's expectations.
