1892 Vintage 4-Book Set, Character Sketches of Romance

This Vintage 4-Volume Book Set titled, (Character Sketches of Romance,
Fiction and The Drama - a Revised American Edition of the Readers Handbook),
by The Rev. E. Cobham Brewer and edited by Marion Harland, is in excellent
condition. They are published by New York Selmar Hess Publishers. Each
volume has a different publishing date. All books are full of B/W and color
full-page engravings with etchings and photogravures by Goupil of Paris &
other eminent makers. The endpapers are marbled and gilt edges of the pages.
The pages are printed on special paper, 24 letterpress pages. The cover and
spine are leather bound. The title is in gilt and the spine has gilded
floral designs.
The object of the books is to provide readers and speakers with a lucid, but
brief account of such names as are used in allusions and references by poets
or writers - to furnish the reader with the plot of popular dramas, the
story of epic poems, and the outline of well-known tales.

2) Volume 2 - dated MDCCCXCII, Copyright 1892, 408 pages.

3) Volume 3 - dated MDCCCXCII, Copyright 1892, 408 pages.

4) Volume 4 - dated MDCCCXCII, Copyright 1892, 384 pages.

They are all in excellent condition. There are no rips, tears, creases, or
missing pages. There are no stains and no water damage or soiling. The spine
is nice and tight.
