I must somewhat disagree - I have been using G-2 refills in a Sheaffer
Balance II roller ball pen for a couple of years. Yes, it does need to be
trimmed about 1/4 inch shorter, but otherwise fits well.

Well, if you have do this major surgery to make it work, then it does not
really fit. Right?

I suggest that you google this group for a reply by Jeff in 2003 to "Cross
Rollerballs" in which he provided a response from Pilot that listed all
the
pens that the G2 fits.

Thanks.

Glad you like the Schmidt although I don't recall making the suggestion.

You know it was not you. It was a gentleman/lady by the name "GA".

But thanks anyways.

I believe that the Pilot G-2 and Schmidt 888 refills are interchangeable.

Is the Schmidt Rollerball Topball 850 same as 888? Is the 850
interchangable with G-2?

I remember people talking about this "surgery" - it's very simple, no
ink spills, no trouble.

1. Pull the little coloured plug out of the G2 refill
2. Cut a small piece off the end with a sharp knife
3. Put the plug back in.

If you like G2 refills, and you have a Sheaffer Balance II or similar
pen, that kind of modification is easy and worth it.

My Lamy Swift also needs surgery, a very small one at that, to fit a G-2. I
need to cut a very very thin slice at the end. Well, easier said than done:
I ended up cutting a just a little more and now the end doesn't peep out as
much. Then I had to stick some paper at the end to extend it. In the end I
decided it is best if the G-2 fits as-is.
