Thanks Lance -- Calibuberls take the wires off the good sounding speaker with the unit off , check the ohms of the voice coil. then do the same with the other original speaker, both should be close to the same. away to tell if it is in the Amp is to switch speakers, if after the switch that side still sounds bad ,it is an Amp problem or a cartiage problem or even a ground problem. You don't say if it solid state or tube and I am not that good on model numbers to know the defference. Hope this helps. doc ellis |

Pull the amplifier out. Flip it over and look at the 4 fuses (total)
on the two driver boards. One may be blown. If it is, then chances are you have a bad output transistor or two for that particular channel. |

Thanks Lance -- Calibuberls YOUR AMPLIFIER HAS A LEFT, OR RIGHT CHANEL THAT IS DEFECTIVE MOST LIKELY. THE SPEAKER IN THE ROWE WORK WELL UNLESS A MOUSE HAD LUNCH AND NEEDED A NAPKIN. (JUST A JOKE). THE CARTRIDGE MIGHT BE HAVE A PROBLEM. SWITCH THE LEFT WIRE, AND RIGHT WIRE, FROM THE CARTRIDGE. IF THE SAME SIDE IS DISTORTED, IT IS THE AMP. |

Hope this helps. doc ellis Im quite sure that this is one of the "compact" sized CD jukes from the mid 1990s. In which case everything (except the crossover network and speakers) will be identical to a normal Rowe CD juke from that era. In my opinion, it will be blown output transistors on one channel. As already pointed out by Ken Layton, examine the fuses on both driver boards (the 2 square boards). If they are blown, test and replace the associated output transistors on the heatsink. IF one is gone, I would consider replacing both of them. Make sure you don't mix up the transistors, or the connectors, they are different types. Also make sure you use the insulating washer underneath the devices that you replace, and heatsink compound. Make sure the mounting screws are quite tight on all transistors to get good heat transfer. Adjust the output (with the output transformer unplugged) for as close to 0v as you can get after doing this. IF its not this, then one of the small FET devices in approximately the second last stage of pre-amp board are the next culprit I would look at. |
