Slania-engraving No. 100 for The Faeroes
Postverk Foroya has now officially announced its
100th stamp issue engraved by Czeslaw Slania, which will be released on 22nd September 2003. A preview is uploaded on http://slaniastamps.school.dk/frame_FaeroeIslands06.htm (scroll to bottom of page) The issue is a painting of "Traditional Faeroese Chain Dance in the Inn" made by the Danish painter Emil Krause (1871-1945), who -- except for two periods -- lived and worked most of his life in Farum, a small suburb c. 20 km north of Copenhagen, beautifully located in a semi-rural area, surrounded by big woods and deep lakes, and where his atelier can still be visited. -- Ann Mette Heindorff amhstamps (at) adr dot dk DFF # 101155. Apparently it is nice to live in Farum, where I suppose that you have visited Krause's atelier. BTW, has he lived also in Faeroe? It may not look so on the image provided, but it is for sure engraved. Apparently it is nice to live in Farum, where I suppose that you have visited Krause's atelier. BTW, has he lived also in Faeroe? Yes, for two periods, 1904-1905 and 1932-1933. -- Ann Mette Heindorff amhstamps (at) adr dot dk DFF # 101155. ATA # 53062-6.
