PCGS Four "Free" Grades Received

If you punch up your invoice number on their site, it will tell you when the coins ship. I have never received a submission back later than ten days after the grades were posted. If so, that would be about five weeks total in my case. A lot quicker than I expected. As far as your Isabella, a proper dipping would not cause the coin to come back as cleaned. If it was dipped, it could have been improperly rinsed, or there are hairlines you missed. You may be right. I can't see any surface abrasions with a 7X, but the grader must have spotted something. I doubt that any hairlines or signs of cleaning would be evident in a scan, but here are the two sides. http://community.webshots.com/s/imag...CSXUczf_ph.jpg http://community.webshots.com/s/imag...YwxlTWD_ph.jpg Bruce |

If that is the case, that is the reason they bagged it. It also might be able to be corrected. If we ever do meet, say at one of the can shows, you might want to bring it along and let me take a look at it. -- K6AZ WEB PAGES http://www.k6az.com/web_pages.htm |

Eric,
That was very impressive. First grading Morgans almost perfect from the scan, and now this. May be you should start your own grading service. -- Yousri Ahmad World Mints: http://yousri.home.comcast.net "Eric Tillery" wrote in message news On Fri, 01 Aug 2003 21:58:02 -0400, Bruce Remick wrote: You may be right. wow, you did well . . . less than a month, despite their advertised 75 day
turnaround. I sent mine July 9 so I'm gonna start crossing my fingers. Their tracking still only shows my order as "received 7/9/03" I sent four different CC Morgan dollars Mark "Bruce Remick" wrote in message ... I sent my four coins off to PCGS on July 3 as part of their recent "free grading" offer and received an email from them on 1 August listing the grades my coins were given. I was quite surprised with the grades on two Lincolns, happy with the hoped-for MS63 on my 1878-CC Morgan, and disappointed with a bodybagged Isabella quarter due to "cleaning". One of the Lincolns is a 1909-SVDB that I bought raw from Ira a few years ago as a VF30 and which PCGS called a VF35. A pleasant surprise, I was mainly after the authentication. The other Lincoln is one of two 1955 DDO's my dad found in the late 1950's, and which I had graded as EF45. PCGS called it AU55BN!! IMO, they didn't seem as strict with circ Lincolns as I expected from reading posts here. Even though the Isabella 25¢ appeared Unc, she was apparently dipped at one time. I suppose now she will carry the "curse" for the rest of her life, or at least until cleaned coins come into vogue 50 years from now. She still looks nice to me. Now to wait another 50 days or so to actually receive the coins back. Bruce |

You total idiot dumbass. Thanks. I may do that with the rejected Isabella quarter to get that MS66 I'm hoping for. How much would Acugrade (aka Ack! You grade??) charge for a MS67 grade, in case I might want to go all the way. I could clean it up a bit more if that would be required. BTW, I think there should be a hyphen somewhere in "total idiot dumbass". You might want to check. (reluctantly) Bruce |
