Has anyone else in the ng ever obtained an SLQ in commerce? Either in
change or in a roll?

Yes, I did while pumping gas at my uncle's station as a kid. I got my
choice of any coins I wished in lieu of pay. (Isn't it GREAT to work for
family? I've also got IHC's, Liberty nickels, Barber dimes and

quarters,
and often saw Morgan and Peace dollars in circulation. About the only

20th
century coin I don't remember getting is a WL half for some reason.

And gold, of course?

Small town Oklahoma in the mid to late 60's. People didn't have enough

sense to pull silver out of circulation.

Couldn't have got it if I saw it...I didn't earn that much.

(But you're right...I goofed.)

Sometimes, but now it is Diet Coke and
miniature Reese Cups (when I can't get a DQ
hot fudge banana split). :-)
I hope I didn't spend any Type I.

As a kid (I'm 51 now), I used to get IHCs, Wheats, Buffalos, Mercs, SLQs,
Walkers, Morgan and Peace dollars all the time. Coin collecting wasn't that
big in the 50s as I recall. I don't ever remember receiving a Barber in
change, but I somehow remember spending a Flying Eagle when I thought it was a
fake and didn't know any better.

Like Harv's birthday cupcake incident, how do I remember things like this?

"Alan Williams" ponders:

Congratulations!

That is one coin I have never gotten in change. (I'm 45.)

I've been given silver Roosevelt dimes and Mercs. I've been handed wheat
cents and Buffalo nickels, silver Washingtons and Kennedys. But never
in my life has a cashier or card dealer handed me an SLQ.

Has anyone else in the ng ever obtained an SLQ in commerce? Either in
change or in a roll?
