Try to get some Ukrainian sites about their version of that interbellum
period! About the concentration camp in Poland for political - read

This thread is most interesting as it coincides with
receiving a translation of a letter from a friend's
father to his sister dated 1920 - at the time he was
serving in the Polish Army and mentions much of what
happened , obviously from his viewpoint.

During WW2 he was captured by the Russians and sent to
Siberia, enduring many hardships including being condemned
to death, subjected to 'pretend' firing squads, before being
pardoned by Stalin and released. He eventually reached the
allied lines and finished the war in the UK.

In the meantime his wife and elder daughter remained in Poland, leaving
for the UK before the borders were closed after the surrender,
and he eventually found them in a camp near Hazlemere.

The trauma people went through at that time is almost unimaginable
today.
