Rodney,

You will have to check that at that time. But to my best knowledge, it
it is technically *impossible* to put OE on a W7 machine.

But putting OE's clone (Windows Mail) instead is perfectly possible.
Not so easy, but I am sure your builder will know how to do it.

One thing to consider, if you go away from goggle, then you will have
to get
a news source such as Giganews.

Depending upon your ISP's choice [if any!] you may of may not like the
service and ind yourself right back on goggle's boggle.

Goggle's boggle? I like that even better than google's boogle. g

I don't have Windows 7 yet, but Thunderbird plays nicely with Vista
and isn't that different from OE. I use TBird, my wife uses OE8 with
Windows XP and is quite happy with it.

I also use Thunderbird on a 32 bit Vista machine for accessing this
newsgroup and have no problems with it. Thunderbird is the continuation
of the old Netscape e-mail / newsgroup software from the days when
Netscape was the dominant browser rather than Internet Explorer (late
1990s, by my memory).
I do have issues when travelling, however. Shaw is my ISP in Canada, and
unless I'm accessing the internet through one of the other Shaw servers
(only available in Canada), I can neither access newsgroups nor send
e-mail via Thunderbird (incoming via POP3 is OK, sending via SMTP
doesn't work). In such cases, I have to use my webmail accounts for
e-mail. I've fussed with that for a long time and have never figured out
how to handle it correctly.

Ryan

I think your traveling problem has more to do with Shaw than
Thunderbird. I have similar problems, but I don't travel that much with
my computer to try to fix the problem. I use a laptop when traveling, a
desktop at home. Generally speaking I skip e-mail and newsgroups when
traveling or use my msn or google web accounts if I need to send something.
