TECH: CD100 Warn 05-05 20 error is back......
O.K....... I had problems with a cd100 wherein it would basically lock
out playing certain cd's at times. I would get the Warn 05-05 error and would have to manually initialize the cd that would give me a message stating "not allowed". I fixed this by replacing the battery in the controller box at the back of the jukebox. The player would play normally for the most part. However, I noticed that now, occasionally it will play a different cd other than what I manually initialized. I could fix this by manually initializing the cd with the correct number of tracks. This will fix it for an unknown period of time. It is not limited to only one cd. Does anyone know if changing the optical switch would correct this issue? The player is the original one that came with the unit. Has anyone been able to fix this? This is a home unit so I would prefer not to upgrade it to the pro player being that the usage will not be that great as on location. Hope someone could share their thoughts. John |

John, we spoke via phone a week or so back about this. At this point,
I suspect your primary problem is either your optical switch or mech control board. First lets start with the cheapest parts and work from there- check your sprag gear to make sure none of the larger teeth are broken and you do not have excess slack in the magazine (once locked, you should not be able to move the magazine to either the position adjacent to the one it is locked on). A broken tooth will cause the problem of the CD player playing a CD next to the selected one. Next try cleaning the optical switch with air and adjusting it per the factory manual. If the problem persists, replace the switch (I have a few tested good ones for sale). If you still have problems, your mech control board has problems. Since they are no longer available new, your only recourse is to buy one off of Ebay (they frequently show up) or upgrade the player (which includes a new mech controller).I have not actually dealt with this fellow, but Bruce Wentworth 603-382-6272 repairs these mech controllers as well as CDM-3, CDM-4, and CDM-12 players. If I can be of further assistance, E-mail me again at: thomasteeter(at)budweiser.com Have a great Thanksgiving everybody! Thomas (baraka) wrote in message . com... O.K....... Hi, Thanks soooo much for the help guys.... Tom, I may be buying one of those optical switches from you. Let me clean this switch up and see what happens. It's Thanksgiving so I'm gonna keep it low today and play with it tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving to all!!! John I would buy one and just replace it. Ive never found cleaning to help much at the end of the day - unless the machine is unusually filthy. Im pretty sure the opto has had the dick or is getting to that stage. Tried cleaning that opto.... Still it appears that it is playing other cd's once in a while. Not consistently, but once in a while. Anyone have a known opto switch for sale? E-mail me directly. Thanks... John |

(baraka) wrote in message om... Well, installed new optical switch and problems persist. I get that dreaded Warn 05-05 error. Sometimes I still get "not allowed" on some cd's. I have to manuall initialize them to make them play again. Also, sometimes the wrong song may play. So far I changed the battery in the cpu. Changed the optical switch and now I'm kinda stuck. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing these things to occur? John, when you say it is playing the wrong song, is it the wrong song on the correct disc, or is playing the right track on the wrong disc? |
