It's SILVER PLATED to boot. Hmmm. I've got an oversized version of one of
these that I assumed was pure silver. Now I'm starting to wonder! Well, it
looks pur-ty enough, proof and all, and it was still "cheap" even if not
pure silver. I'm not sure it isn't, but how do you tell? I suppose there's
some specific gravity test that would prove useful, eh? No, I'm not that
worried about it, simply wondering out loud.

You are probably old enough to remember Alan Sherman's "My Son the
Folk Singer." It might not have been in your cultural context, but
some aspects of my world in Cleveland 1961 pivoted around Shaker
Heights -- cultural; not personal; I'm a West Sider -- anyway... The
whole shtick was a string of parodies whose humor depended on
Judiosity (is that a word?): Greensleeves was Sir Greenbaum's
Madrigal, etc., etc., ad nauseum. One of the lines parodying "Pick a
Bale of Cotton" ran: "... Just what I've been looking for! A genuine
copy of fake Dior!" (Cut in the laugh track there). So, ever since I
have been been able to see over a dry goods counter, fakes have been
real. It's just that we laugh at people who buy them. (:-)

I can't quite get the doggeral epic "Bogomeister" to fit either "Casey
Jones" or "John Henry." I am still shopping for a lyric.
