I see allot of silver ingots for sale, are these of any value now/down the
road?

or basically just their worth in silver?

It depends a lot on the subject matter. If there are collectors with an
interest in the theme, it might bring more than spot.......and it might not.
It's a crap shoot. A few weeks ago I sold a base metal medallion on eBay
(Alamo theme) for $5.00. Yesterday I won five .999 silver Statehood medals
from Jake's Market Place on eBay for less than spot. So who knows? You
takes your chances.

Basically just worth their silver price, especially to numismatists. A
collector of other things might place a higher value on them; for
example, someone who collects Harley Davidson memorabilia might value an
ingot with the H-D logo on it higher than just its silver value. (But
don't count on it.)

Actually both are the same thing. Those selling now (cashing in) probably
bought them when Silver was around $4.oo / oz. Being of a "precious metal" or
commodity, I think that when the price is "creeping upward" it will continue to
inch up, in the long haul. It's those peaks and valleys you gotta worry about.

Depends on what it is and age. Others have commented on the "Art" bars.

Common Silver ingots (bullion) are readily available for 5-10% over spot,
depending on quantity, and can be sold for 5-10% under spot.

Depending on the maker and age some bars can do a bit better than this.
Johnson Matthey bars do slightly better than most due to the companies
good reputation for purity and weight.

Cast bars generally do better than stamped bars. Cast generally means an
older ingot. Some ingot's have a pretty active market and sell for many
times over spot. One example are bars cast by the San Fransico mint until
the mid 1960's??.
