Calling all Indian Cent Experts Please Help
I found this 1904 Indian cent today in a box of UK coins my mother sent me.
Can anyone tell me if this is a mint error or has some one overstamped it. In fact any information would be nice. here is a link I will also post the Pic in alt.binaries.pictures.numistmatic. http://www.mycoins.us/Unknown/Unknownmain.htm -- Richard Barnes Ebay nohope587 Web Site : http://www.mycoins.us |

My guess is that it was supposed to have been an encased coin, but there was
no encasing collar around the coin when it was put in the press. The partial letters on the reverse are from the die that was to have struck the collar with advertising or a slogan. Hi John
so you think its part of some sort of Advertisement some one was trying to turn it into a bi metalic to advertise their wares. with a penny in the middle. I never thought of that. I don't know about the Indian cent.
The Mexican coin is a 1 Real. The date is difficult to make out. Perhaps 1840? "nohope587" wrote in message .. . I found this 1904 Indian cent today in a box of UK coins my mother sent me. Looks like it says POSIT, raised. It also look like its added after the coin
was struck, so it may fall into the counterstamp catagory. Could it have been struck with a "NO DEPOSIT stamper? Rick "nohope587" wrote in message ...
