May 12 - Changes to eBay and USPS
May 12 brings new rates for the USPS. In fact, there is a law that they
have to change prices every month to reflect inflation as defined by the Consumer Price Index. http://www.usps.com/prices/ Express mail will be zone-based. There will be discounts for using electronic postage. Priority Mail will also have discounts for using electronic postage. Priority Flat Rate boxes stay the same. Yay! eBay changes: Feedback changes to benefit sellers eBay's making some important changes to Feedback in May to boost buyer confidence and improve the eBay marketplace. The changes include important protections for sellers against unfair negative Feedback. Negative or neutral Feedback will be removed when it appears a buyer is abusing the system. If you think this is happening to you, report to eBay by using the Contact Us link on any eBay Help page. We'll also remove Feedback when a buyer doesn't respond to an Unpaid Item (UPI) report, or if buyer responds but doesn't specifically call out seller performance, item condition or transaction problems. Some other changes which may not take place on May 12: Upgrade fees for international exposure - As a seller from the US or Canada for 10, 20, or 40 cents you can have your listing appear on both ebay.com and ebay.co.uk, for example. UK sellers can do the same to have their listing appear on both. Listings removed for policy violations now appear in the Unsold section of eBay. This way if you made a small error that caused your listing to be pulled you now have the opportunity to fix the error and re-list. -- "Line up alphabetically by height" - Bill Peterson, Florida State Head Football Coach |

Does anyone know if the new rule preventing sellers from leaving negative feedback applies to auctions that ended before the date the rule goes into effect? (I'm assuming May 12th, though I've also seen May 20th given as the date the rule goes into effect.) Anyway, if an auction ended on April 15th and a buyer posts justified negative feedback on May 15th can the seller still leave negative retaliatory feedback because the auction ended before May 12th? |
