In the office preparing for a loan request tomorrow at the bank and
Stephanie comes back to the office and asks "What is this, found in the
drive thru register?" and hands me a merc dime, 1940-S VF. I explain what
it is and ask if she searched for more. She went to take a look and came
back with one more, a 1936 Fine. Bill

Well then, I have no hope, Byron. I sure hope you're wrong. Bill

It's sad that a lot of our younger people can't recognize a relatively recently
"retired" older U.S. circulated coin. While my own kids probably wouldn't be
able to identify a Barber or Seated Liberty anything, they would know it was a
U.S. coin and call me.

Getting a little off the original subject, my son works in a local pizzaria and
called me one evening about a bill presented for part of the payment. It
turned out to be a very worn $1 silver certificate. Without running down to
the store to check it, I told him it was probably genuine, but if it was really
worn, it was not really collectable. Save it as a novelty, if he wanted. He
deposited in the night deposit (sorry, Tim).
