I was under the impression that author Clive Cussler was involved in
the location and salvage of the Hunley, and was dropping a lot of cash
into the project. The coin has a neat history, even if it isnt worth
millions of dollars. Apparently it stopped a bullet aimed at the
captain, and it is engraved to indicate this.

The coin is certainly an interesting historic artifact, but no where
near $8-10 million. Maybe $100,000-200,000 to a rich Civil War buff. In
fact, no coin is worth that kind of money unless maybe you could
certify a widow's mite was held by Jesus himself.
