(maybe OT) Ethical issue
Hi all,
When I buy or exchange from or with others, the postage stamps were not cancelled in some cases. This means that I may send to foreign collectors for "re-using" it so as to reduce his/her postage cost. Do you think it is not ethical? |

The little fellow that sits on your left shoulder is called "honesty" Edwin. Whether you choose to listen to him, is up to the individual. The stamp is a receipt for a service, which has been rendered so it is illegal. Why not soak, and save the stamp as a "mint / used" ? They make nice stamps to trade, transfer the choice to the other fellow "Edwin" wrote in message ... Unfortunately, the tendency (or the fear of the tendency) of people to do this is why so many otherwise-collectible stamps end up in my (U.S.) mailbox with horrible ballpoint pen "cancels" on them. I have wondered why this is done even to foreign stamps. Now I know why. :-) I have seen stamps with face values over $10 scribbled on thusly. It indeed is unethical -- really no different than sneaking into a plant where they incinerate retired currency and leaving with a knapsack full -- but even worse (in my opinion) than the postal administrations losing money is that so many nice stamps have to be ruined.
