Wes,,
Just listenening to Glenn back this morning and he mentioned that St George UT was now one of the top aeas in the US to live. A new tract went up with homes starting at $500,000 and all were spoken for in one week. Builders just started another tract with starting prices at $750,000! Unless you're from San Francisco area or some of the pricier suburbs of LA, who can afford these? You were talking about moving a few months ago.......If I were you, I'd stay put. You've got nice coming into the shop all the time. I'll stop by to say hello on Thursday in Long Beach. Ira |

They have certainly been building some "big bucks" housing here as of late,
however $250K still buys a pretty decent home. We got here 5 years ago from CA and bought a couple of homes. The one we live in is 3200 sf and cost us $185. Granted it was a foreclosure, so we saved about 15k. Today this home is worth about $450k. This area has been rated one of the top retirement areas in the country. I have a link about the area at our web site. www.allgoodcoin.com See you Thursday. Wes |

St. George doesn't have winter like Salt Lake City. It's very nice there.
It's the summer weather that I wouldn't like. Bob (Former Utah Resident of 16+ years) "e" wrote in message m... Unless you're from San Francisco area or some of the pricier suburbs of LA, who can afford these? Small change. Around these parts, $500,000.00 would get you a small two or three bedroom house on a dinky lot, or maybe a condo, and if you were lucky, even a garage. Trump is building a new gated community about a mile down the road from where my folks used to live. Those houses start around $5 million and go upwards of $10 million. Besides Doctors, lawyers, Captains of industry and lottery winners, I don't know who can afford houses like that. But lookin' at them is free. Maybe. Harv In this part of Texas if I was careful, $500,000 would buy me 10 houses. More realistically, I am confident I could get 6. We do have million dollar houses but not many. Dale |

Latest issue of the AARP magazine (yes, I am old enough to be a member) lists best places for retirees to live, and yes, St. George UT is there. I checked the pictures very carefully to see if there were any coin shops or change in the streets. Found none. Therefore, scientifically, I deduce that the pictures were all taken by Wes, from his shop, after picking up all the pennies off the street. I'm not a rocket scientist, but I like my reasoning powers better. |

"Jud" wrote in message oups.com... Latest issue of the AARP magazine (yes, I am old enough to be a member) If you are 50, you can join the AARP. They have some mystical magical way of finding out when people turn 50 and sending them an invitation letter to join. I got such a letter shortly after I turned 50. Where they get the names and addresses I have no idea. For ten bucks a year for the membership, I think that's what it is, the membership can get you some pretty decent discounts here and there for this and that. Then again, so can an AAA membership card, but those cost way more than ten bucks a year. Then again, I don't think the AARP will come out and change a tire or bring you a can of gasoline if you're stupid enough to run dry. Harv |
