Default BLATANT VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAWS

INTERESTING? Look at the following two closed auctions - that coin
look familiar?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3948450506

TITLED: 1898-S MORGAN DOLLAR BETTER DATE FINE Item number.

Purchased by eBay Seller "see32" who is a Lady from Boyce, Louisiana,
on 12/31/04, who sold 15 altered 1893-S Morgan Dollars on eBay before
they stopped her.

http://page.auctions.shopping.yahoo....aucview=closed
TITLED: 1893-S (altered) morgan silver dollar!!!!!!!!!!

Sold by "camo1950" who is a person from Boyce, Louisiana, who just
happens to have the same address as the aforementioned "see32" in
Boyce, Louisiana (click on "ABOUT ME" in the Yahoo auction), and has
sold 46 of these illegally altered coins on Yahoo as well.

Keep an eye on these and other auction sites online, most of those
coins will resurface again offered as legitimate coins, several already
have on eBay. Of the 46 coins sold on Yahoo, there were 6 buyers who
took 2 or more coins, one buyer bought a whopping 14 fake coins,
another 7, one took 5 and the rest 2. Now, tell me my friends.. just
how many "hole fillers" does any one man need? Check the Yahoo sellers
"CLOSED AUCTIONS" it tells the rest of the story quite well.
SO, WHAT'S NEXT?

To the original poster:

Instead of screaming about the Hobby Protection Act, which does not
seem to be applicable, I believe you should be quoting the following
from US Code:

TITLE 18, PART I, CHAPTER 17, Section 331

331. Mutilation, diminution, and falsification of coins

Whoever fraudulently alters, defaces, mutilates, impairs, diminishes,
falsifies, scales, or lightens any of the coins coined at the mints of
the United States, or any foreign coins which are by law made current
or are in actual use or circulation as money within the United States;

or

Whoever fraudulently possesses, passes, utters, publishes, or sells,
or attempts to pass, utter, publish, or sell, or brings into the
United States, any such coin, knowing the same to be altered, defaced,
mutilated, impaired, diminished, falsified, scaled, or lightened—
Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five
years, or both.

**************
or.....quoting the following from the Secret Service website:

"Today counterfeit coins are made primarily to simulate rare coins
which are of value to collectors. Sometimes this is done by altering
genuine coins to increase their numismatic value. The most common
changes are the removal, addition, or alteration of the coin's date or
mint marks. "

LOL! I guess I am getting obsessed with this, I simply cannot
comprehend that eBay makes it so difficult to get those phoney auctions
shut down. I really hope that more people will help by reporting these
ALLEGED crooks sooner.

Gosh, Alan, I'm mortified to hear that eBay might allow the selling of
fake items in their vaunted auction environment. Surely this is just a
rare, isolated incident that you are alluding to in your tag line, no?
