After 3 years of looking at this issue, I still cannot
make out just what it is.
A dove with long range fuel tank?

This even beats Bob's vote of Canada's Marconi
issue with the green face.

Apologies for poor scan quality.

No, no, no!

It's a reproduction of a fogged up altimeter dial just before Air Mexico
flight 624 hit the side of Pico de Orizaba. (Fortunately the pilot was
able to take off again and returned to Mexico City where all 467
passengers gave a rousing cheer on a smooth landing).

Now that's the kinda pilot I want on my flights

Brings back the nightmares, of that "Air Crash Investigation" episode I
once viewed, where the pilot
was sucked out of the windscreen. The First Engineer
managed to hold on to his ankles, whilst the Junior
pilot landed the plane (his first flight).

Mexico Scott #C185 (25c chestnut brown -
with watermark) issued 1947. The design
repeats that of a 1944 (25c chestnut brown
- no watermark) airmail stamp (Scott #C141).

The design shows "symbol of flight"
cv for either stamp used is the minimum - 20c.

http://cjoint.com/data/fiqIESmpm7.htm

The watermark on #C185 shows "GOBIERNO
MEXICANO" and an eagle in a circle. shown
at a 45 degree angle.

Hi all,

no, You cannot be right. This picture is an early forerunner of the Disney
Comic figure of
Launchpad McQuack, pilot and friend of "Darkwing Duck", I can recognize the
keen chin and his strong arms, the mighty chest and the little feathers on
his head. That´s what I call a really great prediction on stamps.
Great job, mexican post office, really a great job You did :-)

Best regards from Germany

Gerhard

Compare, if You will not believe me :-)

The worst Canadian issue (IYAM) has to be the 8 cent Supreme Court
(#669) of 1975. UGLY!

Those years saw quite a few ugly issues. That is one reason why I
stopped collecting stamps! The proliferation of ugly stamps in Canada
and hordes of crap coming out of Tuvalu!

I switched to definitives instead. Still have most of 'em. I was
going to use them for postage now, but most mail is now e-mail.

"symbol of flight" I can understand Blair,
what I need is an interpretation of that symbol.
What do you see?
Is it a hand releasing a dove? (Is it a dove?)
