Default Copper cents

My wife and I recently emptied a 5 gal jug that had about 4 gal of coins
in it. During the sorting process we separated out the pre-1982
Lincolns, you know the ones that are copper not copper coated zink.

Now there are over $100.00 worth of these that are now in some plastic
jugs. I have a couple of options on what to do with them.

1. Take them to the bank and go to the casino and run the money thru a
slot machine.

2. Leave them in the jugs and let my kids wonder why we ever kept them,
maybe the mint will sometime in the future will allow melting them and
the copper value will get high enough to melt them.

3. (what are your suggestions)

Thanks for your help.

It probably depends on your age, how much of a hoarder you are, how much
$100 would change your life, and how emotionally attached you became to
filling the 5 gallon jug over the years. If you already cashed in the
post-1982 cents and other denominations, there shouldn't be much emotion
left for the remaining copper cents. If you can wait another ten or twenty
years, there may be people willing to pay a premium for your pennies. But
then there's that inflation thing. And then after all that time there may
indeed be some emotion involved. IMO, cash them in now and you'll forget
about it in a few weeks.

I am soon to be 72 so long term 10 or 20 years is probably stretching it
a bit.

I am to much of a hoarder and your suggestion of cashing them in is
probably the best. Than I can buy some silver eagles or something that
takes up a lot less space.

Now for the Wheat Cents.

1950s 2656
1940s 1408
1930s 152
1920s 69
Teens 43

Indian Head 12 of them

Canadian Cents 254

And the list go on as to what was in that jug. US and Canadian silver,
even one half of a spring activated clothes pin.
