Default Incorrect Scott Numbers in 1943 Scott Stamp Album?

Does anyone know if Scott changed the early stamp numbering sometime
after 1943?

The Scott International Junior Stamp Album copyright 1943 has a few
U.S. stamps that are marked differently from what we use today.

For example, Scott #33 is actually Scott #11.

Scott #214 is actually Scott #212.

Not sure how many others might be wrong!

Thanks for any help.

Both before and after.

| The Scott International Junior Stamp Album copyright 1943 has a few
| U.S. stamps that are marked differently from what we use today.
|
| For example, Scott #33 is actually Scott #11.

Originally, Scott started US with the provisionals numbered 1-27.
In 1940, they got their current 1x to 12x numbers.
Sometimes in 1944-1947 (don't have these volumes),
old 28/29 first general issues were moved to current 1-4.
In 1948, 30-54H moved to 5-46

| Scott #214 is actually Scott #212.

In 1952, 212, 213, and 214 were rotated to become 213,214,212.

| Not sure how many others might be wrong!

Not wrong, just different, based on new info and fashions.
There were several changes a years at least thru early 50s,
and even occasionally today.

| Thanks for any help.

You are welcome.
I have a number of relevant S. Specialized.
This was my first chance/call to realy use them ;-).

Thanks very much for the help, and glad that you were able to use your
Specialized Catalogs.

I not only had the different numbers in the 1943 Scott Album, but I
had some stamps from my Grandfather that were identified with the same
changed numbers. It really confused me until I suspected the change.

It also confused a collector that was interested in several stamps, as
I had emailed photos of stamps he wanted and they obviously weren't
what he had requested!

To be dependable correct, Scott numbers must specify the catalog year. But
now most countries are so stable (except for new items) that almost no one
bothers.
