Q: Crazy looking stamp and opinions
I'm designing a format with which to sell stamps at auction with consideration of the best scanning method, shipment pricing, stamp identification, etc.. I've come to a conclusion on the specialization of my collecting. If I try to sell everything, I will learn a great deal about all of the stamps and by default of what people won't buy and I can't identify, my specialty collection will be formed. Below I've put 3 template auctions together. You can't bid, it's just the write-up. I was going through my collection making large scans and then investigating the possible varieties and was surprised at how many pearl earrings, cracked plates, extra circles, etc. I found. Looking for the varieties seemed to me to be the most interesting thing that had done with them. The scanning method became the one that best shows color nuances and the condition. In previous auctions I had used the black background to my detriment because it isn't the most flattering but I've opted to continue with that method for many scans because the range of color in Photoshop seems better than scans with white or off-white backgrounds. In some cases backing just the stamp with white paper has worked well. I know that many people do well with less is more on auction write-ups but it seems my bend is to try to think of everything down to listing even the specialized catalog's information about each stamp. So One. you can look at the concept and post criticism, points, left-out ideas, etc. Two. look at a stamp that is not worth much but looks crazy enough to be a work of art, third one down. http://tloepp.home.mindspring.com/!auction/us-001-01.html http://tloepp.home.mindspring.com/!auction/us-001-02.html http://tloepp.home.mindspring.com/!auction/us-001-02.html TIA, TL |

I opted for a simpler format on shipping but stayed with the
stamp specs idea. Here is the first beautiful loser. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MESE%3AIT&rd=1 Thanks for looking, TL |
