1. If you are asked if you want to be a member of a group, you agree,
then are asked to be its president, refuse.
2. If you are not a lawyer, and setting up the philatelic organization
requires legal documents, refuse to write them.
3. If your group will be handling money, insist on hiring an accountant
to manage this
4. And if you have any interest in choosing "Neither of the above" when
asked "Would you rather be hated by philatelists or receive a tax
audit?", tell the person who asked for your help -- in your nicest voice
and with your nicest smile -- to go to hell.

As a former treasurer and secretary of a now-defunct philatelic group I
can sympathize with you somewhat, although our problems were an order of
magnitude less than yours.
