Rein, you move in different circles than I,
I must admit though, the few Frama collectors, I have had the chance
to meet, were a passionate, albeit weird mob.
I have not come across the term "hi tech" printers. (may be a brand name)
If I knew what I was talking about, I may correct them.

I must upbraid you again, if you wish us to be more knowledgable,
you shall have to post some interesting brief snippets with regards
to your discipline.

I thought those adhesive (what's the deal with "self" adhesive?) labels
were ink printed, unless you mean the process of melting the balls of ink
in the ink jet process.

Rod,

the Dutch post office counter printers - the most primitive thermal
Barcode Blasters they could afford!! The Belgian Post Office also have
Cognitive Solutions printers in every post office with a non-thermal
effect!

The base self-adhesive stickers do exist in several designs (including the
changes of the PTTPost into TPGPost]

The Frama-collecting lot is always referring - wrongly - to this as Hitech
printers (Australiana??) ..............

This is the stuff we get on Framas Rein,
"up side down rolls" and all sorts of odd things I do not understand.

Nice bit down in bottom rh corner,
1991, 36 countries using Framas, Belgium the largest with 25 machines.

Rod,

the labels themselves had been pre-printed traditionally in typography
i.e. the colours; the black variable stuff has been thermally printed by a
Cognitive Solutions Barcode Blaster. The black print disappears like any
POS receipt before you even get your Internal Revenue people have a look
at it...

This need not have to as the Belgians have a similar set-up with a
slightly better CS Barcode printer that is not using a thermal print and
will leave the collectors with a much better print that will survive at
least 5 years ....

Hytech is a Australian philatelic term as far as I know...

Great link, thanks Rein.

Some more meter junk
Belgium, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore.
http://cjoint.com/data/izdaWSaCu6.htm

and dare I say it, the future of philately?

I would have a guess the format of the Japanese meters will enhance their
collectability
with their place of issue name printed on an attractive and clear format
with their dates dd/mm/yyyy or yyyy/mm/dd

The meter at the bottom is a strange one and illustrates a "dual ink"
impression
I have never seen a dual colour before, not that I can recall anyhow.
