Techie,

I can get those same effects by accidentally running them
through
the washer and dryer with a load of clothes.

Can you really get the same effect from running them thru the
washer and dryer? I gotta try that!

Just put them in a pan on the stove. You can even make them look
like steel cents.

Hey! That's fun! I'm gonna try that at home, tonight!

Don't worry, I won't be selling them as Monster Toned rarities on ebaY!

Doncha mean you're gonna *fry* that at home?

You're welcome. The original image took a long time to download even with my cable
ISP.

You shouldn't ever store images in BMP format on the web -- takes
forever to load, and some people use operating systems other than
Windoze.

Is it too much to ask to convert them to JPG before uploading them??

Here, I was gonna be a smarta$$ and tell Techie that these are US One
Cent pieces! Sorry, just in a strange mood today. Maybe it's because
it's the second snowfall for us, this winter!

I do like the toning effects on these cents! There probably isn't any
monetary value, since these are very common modern cents. But, I'd
probably keep them for coolness factor!

Can you really get the same effect from running them thru the washer and
dryer? I gotta try that!

It's worked for me :-) Especially with coins that start off "red"

There are a fair number of chemicals in laundry detergent, plus
whatever "stuff" you've got in the water.

Finish it up with a half an hour of heat and gentle burnishing with
cloth.

It usually happens when I leave one in a pocket.

take care,
Scott

Apologies for the large image file - I just wanted to have a high
quality image as some of the tonings were hard to distinguish in a
lower quality image.

Try converting it to a JPEG image of the same size and resolution with
10%-15% compression and see if you can notice any difference in the
quality. The resulting file size should be about 1 MB or even less.
