Not sure about that one. I toodk the item number from the url below
and saw what appears to look at it to be a studio print, but they are
claiming it to be an actual drawing. Did Walt himself draw these
strips? I've never seen them before. But at that price, I'd think
they'd have to be original.... they do give the place they got them
from and their registration number. But that looks like a printed
Walt sig... not an actual one. But without seeing something like that
in person, there's really no way to tell for sure is there?

I keep trying to find information on "Circle Fine Arts" where the strip
originated from but nothing is coming up. I would contact the seller and try to
get more information. Then contact the gallery and have them take a peek.

I have no idea what orig disney art goes for but the sig itself is about 2000.
So it seems close. They do offer your money back which is a good sign. They are
selling mostly wris****ches which means they aren't advertising themselves as a
dealer and trying to move a lot of other items (potential fakes)

I wish they had a better close up of the signature. I would ask for that too.

I understand that the item seems a bit fishy but I think you'd need to do a bit
more research on it. I wouldn't dismiss it off hand.

Hey Guys, haven't posted in quite a while, but still lurking about. And
since I can never resist the chance for indepth research I thoiught I would
see what I could find.

Circle Fine Arts appears to be a legitimate agent. They apparently even
trade on the NYSE (ticker: CFNE).

Here's a site I located in which details several art sales that I believe
may answer some questions about this particular auction (or create new
questions altogether)
http://www1.icollector.com/catalogs/...catalogid=3057

If you use find for the name "Circle" you will locate several offerings from
the agent in question for Disney artwork and Sericels and production cels.
Unfortunately, you cannot enlarge any of these pictures but a couple of them
look similar in structure to the auction in question. And you will notice
that they are asking from 200 - 400 dollars each for them. If I had to
venture a guess about this ebay auction, I would say that it is probably an
original strip artwork, but even though they have Walt Disney's "signature"
on it, we can be pretty certain that it isn't authentic Walt. Anybody in
this group that collects comic books can tell you that EVERYTHING that is
drawn that has disney characters in it has a facsimile of his signature on
it.
There may still be an upside though. If this is original AND you can
obtain proof of the artist is may actually be worth a pretty penny. It is
possible that this may be original artwork by Disney artist Floyd
Gottfredson. Floyd was the artist for all Mickey Mouse newspaper comic
strips from 1930 to 1955, but continued to work with the strip until 1975.
If you could prove that Floyf Gottfredson drew this strip (assuming it is
original) it could be worth up to $5,000.00 to a dedicated panelogist who
collects Disney artwork.

As usual, I've said way too much, but I can't resist a good treasure hunt.

Great Stuff Bob! I personally don't think the drawing is worth THAT
much... but with Walt's original sig, I think easily. I thought when
looking at the item that it looked like it was legit but I did have a
problem with the sig. It's true that that looks exactly like the
prefab signature that you say goes on Everything! And there is no
variation that I could note, though it was rather small like you said.
I can see Disney collectors paying a lot for it though. Especially if
a legit thing. But with online items, you can't tell if things are
drawings or prints. Hell, I had problem looking at the Winnie the
Pooh ones I had in person and I couldn't tell! Artwork though is
tough, you really need to do your homework to spend that kind of
moola. But you did a great service here. Thanks!

lol; I was jusr researching "International Authentication Services"
that the lady who is selling those LOTR forgeries is selling. She
uses them to authenticate! But a Google seach only brough up ONE
thing... an old Ebay item of Christina Agulera with the same
authentication COA. There's nothing anywhere else. I just tried to
find the UACC email to ask them...

Bobb,

That's fantastic! We really appreciate all of your hardwork--- I don't know
much about Disney collectibles but I know certain things have great value and I
found your analysis fascinating. Maybe the Walt sig is stamped? Either way
this was really helpful-- I hope you will post more! Its rare to get such an
intelligent response!
