I don't think anybody said those prices are "proper." I said
they're the common, usual retail prices at the few stores that
still sell fountain pen ink.

The pen companies, stores, and vendors would probably disagree,
saying that higher prices are the only way to cover their costs
(and pay their kids' ways thru college) based on tiny sales
volumes to a small market. I'm grumbling about it, just as you
are, but that's undoubtedly what they'd say.

-I think a lot of people are again paying for flashy packaging.
