Any Scottish note collectors in?

A cancelled printing plate similar to the plate used to print this "note" was sold at auction by Spink a few years ago but I've not yet been able to find the catalogue in the pile that I have to see if it's the exact same one. I would presume that it is as there can't be many of these plates around. I was at the Spink auction where a plate was sold but as I forgot to view it before the auction I didn't bid on it. As this "note" was probably printed very recently, and more could be, I hope that it doesn't sell for a lot of money to someone that thinks it's some kind of rare proof or trial note. You are suggesting - and I know it just a hunch - but someone 'could' have made this print recently. What about the raised paper, what is that supposed to be for? I assume (now) that the hatching I can see is due to the fact that the plate has been cancelled? Sharp practice it would appear. And I'm saving myself a few quid! Thanks Darren |

The ink on this "note" might still be wet.
The pressure when printing forced the paper into the holes that have been drilled in the plate, hence the areas of raised paper.
