CHARTER: rec.collecting.books
[Reposted for the enlightenment of the uninformed in order that
good group citizenship might be promoted]

rec.collecting.books is an unmoderated group for the discussion of all aspects
of book collecting. A list of a few (and certainly not all) appropriate topic
areas follows:

* first edition points
* detailed annotated bibliographies
* tips on book preservation and repair
* glossaries of book collecting terminology
* lists of bookstores specializing in individual authors
* rarity and comparitive value of particular books (as opposed to an
individual's selling price)

Here are a few appropriate subject titles:

~ REQ: Bukowski First Edition Points
~ Anybody have a rarity list for Boni-Liveright Modern Library books?
~ Bibliography of Philip K. Dick short stories (first printings)
~ Help: How do I stop a hinge from splitting?
~ San Francisco/Bay Area Book Fair Dates
~ Amsterdam dealers in Hemingway first editions
~ What's the difference between "very good" and "almost fine"?

This group would NOT include For Sale or Wanted To Buy postings, those being handled
nicely in rec.arts.books.marketplace and (to a lesser extent) in rec.collecting.
Nor would it include discussion of content, that being reserved for rec.arts.books.
