Default Buying coin bags from the US mint

I am thinking of buying some 100 and 1000 coin bags from the mint. I am
trying to find out the answer to this question. Inside the bag are the
coins loose or are they in a roll? I would hope they are in rolls...

They are loose. The bag of PA quarters I bought were
dinged to Shamokin and back. The 2002 half bag I had
was not bad ding-wise, but the luster on a lot of the coins wasn't great.

I bought some 'Shamokin' Arkansas quarters (rolled by
Bank of America) and THESE coins were scooped up from
the bottom of the barrel. Awful, awful, awful.
Another time I lucked out and bought quarters that
were from the top of the striking barrel--much better.

Here's another, just for laffs. I bought up two
bags of Kennedy's in late Autumn 2003. My batch
was struck using worn-out dies. It took
a little detective work to understand that all of the good
50 cent pieces were struck and sold nine months
earlier.

My coins were loaded with pit-marks and struck under
excess oil blown onto the dies to cool them. As a
result the coins were oily and lacked definition.

Boy did I feel like a chump.
