RIP Steve Irwin

some people are favoring him with the legendary jaques cousteau (sp?). does anyone think this is true? i really can't be the judge on that one though. i got him once at the premiere of the movie in hollywood...he seemed real nice. mike Odd you say that, Jacques Cousteau's son (or was it grandson) was also working on the documentary that Steve was in Australia to shoot. I think he was producing it. Both Gentlemen exposed the public to wild life and environments we'd never have had the chance to visit or see without them. Though I think Cousteau's inventing the aqualung puts his contribution a bit ahead of Mr. Irwin's. Still if you need to be in second place as an "explorer" being second to Jaque Coustea is no shame. RIP Steve Irwin
yeah, i had read that too (that cousteau's son was right there filming) i think that's why the reference was made.. i don't know about jane goodall...sure, steve didn't re invent the wheel or anything, but he got up close and personal with VERY dangerous beasts....just like jaques. it was just on land (as was mentioned before). and showed people a science that people never saw before...seriously..and he kind of taught kids (like bill nye the scoence guy). so who knows...i think the comparison is fair, it may be a little off track, but like someone else had said, cousteau raised the bar so high, it's not too bad to be in second place really... mike |
