Default John Updike cleans house

The author John Updike recently sold--to Massachusetts dealer Mark Stolle--a
large portion of the books he has accumulated over the past few decades.
These books include many with Updike's marginal notations for reviews. From
the very brief AP item:
"Updike, who counts himself a supporter of independent bookstores, doesn't
mind that Stolle is making a profit.

"If he's able to make a few dollars on a few of the review copies scattered
in there, all the better. He paid a fair price."

It is incredibly refreshing for someone who sold books to a dealer to
recognize that the bookdealer should actually make money on the
transaction!
3 cheers for Updike!!
