Default New in the 8-Track world

Hey there all,

I don't know who still uses this News group, but...

I just found a Pioneer H-R99 on a pile of trash. This was on a abandoned
industrial place in the harbour of Gent (Belgium). It did look like crap but
I cleaned it and fixed something and it's working quite well now. Even got
myself some Maxell tapes and they are on their way from the USA.

Anyone know if the prices on eBay are a bit fair? or are some really way too
high?

Greetings,
Peter van de Beek
The Netherlands.

as a rule now, Ebay is quite reasonable- tape prices are near
giveaway, deck prices are very low compared to years ago

the HR99 is a good deck, but if used heavy suffers quick capstan wear,
causing the tapes to drag- it's got a small, weak DC motor, a major
drawback. But the electronics in it are first class. Change the motor
every few years and I guess it's an ok deck
