Rod is a prolific poster on this newsgroup, but I haven't seen any recently.
Why?

G'day Tony,
just an aside, some time ago I was researching the muslim
Abu Ali Al Hasan (Al Hazan) I am not sure if you contributed,
some kind gentleman sent me a scan.
http://cjoint.com/data/jhdGrrXzpc.htm

I was working my way through the huge work of J Bronowski
last night, "The Ascent of man"
I was delighted (and surprised) that he quoted Al Hazan as his
personally "most remarkable" man translated, (and not a Greek).

The "father of optics" Al Hazan, with his treatise of the cone of rays
from object to eye, was the foundation of "perspective", in art
changing art from 1000ad to the 1300's rather from flat form pictures
of places, to captures of "moments in time"
Even Durer travelled to study this "secret of perspective"

huge praise indeed, perhaps the father of the first "modern art" ?

Thought you might be interested.
