Parker Relex Nib Replacement
I thought it would be a good idea to pick up a Parker Reflex FP so I
could have a cheap carry-around fp that I wouldn't have to worry to much about. As I've said before, I really like a fine nib, and I saw that Bluesea was able to get a nib replacement for his Reflexes. I called Parker to make sure that I could get this offer, and they told me that the Reflex only came in Medium, and no nib replacement was available. Now, I'm not sure if this is because I was dealing with the Canadian branch of Parker, but I was quite disappointed to hear this. I think that once people try fountain pens, then they will become interested and purchase more of them. If a company is able to catch interest, chances are they will hold a consumer. The Reflex is a good, "Gateway" FP, and people might start working their way up the Parker line once they get a taste for FP's. By not offering nib replacement (or converters, as far as I can tell), Parker is certainly not making it easy for people to get introduced to FP's, and especially their brand. Anyway, I just wanted to let people know that Parker Reflex nib replacement, at least in Canada, is not available. |

Anyway, I just wanted to let people know that Parker Reflex nib replacement, at least in Canada, is not available. Sorry about the misunderstanding. I bought my fine nib sections outright and didn't even ask about a nib exchange because I had my Reflexes for over a year. Since you prefer a fine nib (as do I) and they cost only a few dollars, you might want to call back and see if the Canada parts department will sell one to you...or don't press "1" and talk to the U.S. side and see if that side can help you get one. I got mine only this past May or June, so they should still be available. As for converters, you can get Parker converters just about anywhere, though I don't recommend them for the Reflex because the section comes up so high that you can't visually check the ink level. Converters don't hold as much ink, anyway. After a short period, I reverted to refilling cartridges with the syringe from my inkjet refill kit. If you do decide to get a converter, I recommend the twist converter over the slide converter. HTH. -- ~~Bluesea~~ Spam is great in musubi but not in email.
